Hampton was established back in 1638, as one of the first four original New Hampshire towns set up by a Massachusetts govenor. Hampton originally covered far more area than it presently does. The current towns of Seabrook, Kensington,East Kingston, Kingston, Danville, Sandown, North Hampton, Hampton Falls were once all part of the original town of Hampton. The population back then was 853. Today the population is about 15,600 year-round residents.
Hampton has 2 elementary schools, and a junior high school. Schooling in Hampton includes kindergarten as well.
Hampton is very much a family-oriented town, and you'll see that reflected in the school programs, Seacoast United Soccer makes its home in Hampton where they have an indoor arena. They now boast 40 teams, and have been named by Nike as one of its Premier Soccer Clubs around the country. Check out their programs - they offer lacrosse, field hockey, and more. What a great location Hampton has - right off I-95 for ease of commuting, Route 1 runs through town, and it's right on the coast with the Atlantic Ocean as part of its playground. Hampton is about 35 minutes from Boston, 10 minutes from Portsmouth NH, an easy 35-40 minute drive to Manchester NH & Manchester Airport. All kinds of winter skiing came be found as close as about an hour away. Summer fun is right here at Hampton's door - beaches and ocean fun galore. When the railroad was constructed back in the 1850's, Hampton quickly became a very popular summer resort. Hampton Beach offers all kinds of summer fun, including the famous Hampton Beach Casino, where performers from all over have played. Some of this past year's headliners included: Steve Winwood, Leanne Rimes, Chicago, Jeff Beck, Ziggy Marley, Indigo Girls, and more.
