BUY NOW According to the Experts!

Finally, after all this time and KNOWING this is a GREAT time to be a buyer, I finally heard it on one of the major network news shows saying the same thing!!

FINALLY!!! After all this time, I finally heard it on one of the MAJOR network news shows yesterday morning!!

BUY NOW - if you're a buyer in the real estate market, 'the time to buy is NOW'!!!

Yes, I heard this pronouncement yesterday morning on "Good Morning America", and their financial contributor, Mellody Hobson, stated this emphatically yesterday. They were discussing the current 'mortgage crisis', and how to survive it, when the questioning turned to what advantages there may be in this market.

Without skipping a beat, Mellody Hobson smiled and said that this a great time to be a buyer and that there is no better time than NOW to get into the market.

FINALLY - I'm hearing someone on the national news say what I've been thinking and saying for months now. Just a few months ago, I wrote a post about why "NOW May Just Be THE Perfect Time to Buy", and now, several months later, we're actually hearing the same thing on the news. YAY!!

Mellody's reasons for saying NOW is a great time for buyers to be buying are:

there's lots of inventory - buyers have CHOICES in this market. Not so long ago, buyers in my market had to make up their mind within just a few minutes of coming through the front door. Today, buyers have multiple choices in their price ranges, and we have all price ranges available here in the Portsmouth New Hampshire area.
prices have come down - nationwide prices have come down 3.2% since the first of the year. We all know you can't paint the whole country with a broad brush. Some areas will have gone down more and some will not have gone down at all, but as a whole, that's what real estate pricing has done. These numbers are reflecting median home prices.
mortgage interest rates are still historically low - sure, it may be a little harder for some buyers to get loans and banks/mortgage companies are being a little tougher, but when you do get that loan, you can know that it's secured on a much stronger footing at this point.

We all know that the news about mortgages and real estate for some time haven't been the greatest, but at the same time, if you're a strong solid buyer with good credit, you could well have the real estate market in your hand!

I've been calling this a "perfect storm for buyers" for just those reasons!

The national housing numbers were released the other day, and according to the National Association of REALTORS, the overall number of sales were down across the country. I only heard one news segment that actually talked about the numbers for the different regions, instead of once again, painting the whole country with such a large broad brush.

The numbers for some regions were positive, the Northeast being one of them and our numbers showed sales up 1%. Some regions were even, 0%, and a couple were down a little bit, -1%. Given the negative headlines we all continue to get pummeled with, those numbers are really not that bad.

And how you can take advantage of this environment today is by getting out there and seizing the real estate opportunities if you're a strong solid buyer.

Come on out - the water's fine - the choices are plentiful - the mortgage rates are low - and sellers want to sell!!
