Fairs, Festivals, and Fun ~ Portsmouth and Coastal New Hampshire

If you love fairs and festivals, come on up to the Seacoast areas of New Hampshire for some great fun!!

Ferris Wheel Ride

If you love fairs and festivals, come on up and over to the Seacoast areas of New Hampshire!  We've some great ones going on now and coming up in the next few weeks, too.

Who REALLY doesn't LOVE a fair or festival, especially this time of year???
  I love them all!

Dancing in the Street

Here's a sampling of what's in store for some great fun this weekend and for the next few weekends here in the Portsmouth NH and surrounding towns:

~ 9/21 and 9/22 - 10th Annual Newmarket Heritage Festival - 10am to 11pm both days.  This festival takes up the whole downtown area, and is just a giant party in downtown Newmarket!  It's been dubbed the "best little international block party on the Seacoast" and rightfully so.  Some of what you can take in will be music of the Andes; West African drumming; Irish, Indian, and Laotian dancing; gospel music; barbershop quartets; and a lot more music and dancing.  You'll also be able to enjoy some wonderful artists at work on their wares, history walks, kayak tours, model railroads, cooking demonstrations, boat tours and more......loads of great fun for everyone here!!
Fair Food

~ 9/21 through 9/23 - 132nd Annual Rochester Fair - Rochester Fairgrounds, 9am to 11pm.  This is one of the longer running fairs , and has everything from harness racing to Circus Hollywood, from pig racing to oxen pulling, and plenty of rides on the midway, and of course, what would a fair be without all that great fair food!  Great music every night, and plenty to do for kids of all ages, even those who think they aren't kids!  ;-)
~ 9/27 through 9/30 - 131st Annual Deerfield Fair  - Deerfield Fairgrounds, 9am to 10pm.  The Deerfield is New England's Oldest Family Fair, and includes plenty of things that can be traced back to its origins - horse, dairy, sheep shows & competitions; 4-H shows and displays; magic shows; puppet shows; clown acts; midway rides; and awesome fair food.  Who doesn't eat when they go to country fair??  The Wallenda Family Circus will be here; lots of great musical performances, too.

Tall Ships in Portsmouth NH
~ 9/29 through 9/30 - 8th Annual Portsmouth Maritime Festival - downtown Portsmouth.  This is a wonderful celebration of the rich maritime history of this area, a celebration of 'our local and national heritage of seafaring and maritime trades'.  Come have fun and enjoy all kinds of nautical music all over town in various pubs, churches, cafes and in the streets of downtown Portsmouth.

Portsmouth NH Music Hall - Ann Cummings

~ 10/11 through 10/14 - 7th Annual New Hampshire Film Festival - Portsmouth.  What a fabulous opportunity to see close to 60 international and domestic films of all types and in some awesome venues around town!  All are within walking distance to each other, and in the heart of downtown Portsmouth.  You'll be able to experience not only some wonderful new films in these gorgeous theaters, but you'll also have the opportunity to take part in discussions with screenwriters and filmmakers, as well as attend ceremonies and various parties.  This is one of the largest festivals of this kind in New England - come be a part of it!

As you can see, we've got some really great things going on here in the Portsmouth area!  So, if you're thinking about a visit to this area, here are some fun events to take in.  And if you already live here, well lucky you!!
Mark your calendars so you don't miss a moment of fun!
