Portsmouth New Hampshire - Music, Theater, Arts, and More

Portsmouth New Hampshire is situated right on the border of New Hampshire and Maine, connected by 3 bridges to Kittery Maine.

Portsmouth New Hampshire is  right on the border of New Hampshire and Maine, and we are connected by 3 bridges to Kittery Maine

Portsmouth and the Seacoast area is loaded with all kinds of fun, educational, and entertaining things to do, all year long!

NH Maine Bridge

This picture shows one of three bridges that connects the Portsmouth and the Seacoast areas of New Hampshire with the southern part of Maine, into Kittery and Eliot Maine.

Two of the three bridges are draw bridges, as Portsmouth is a working port, and tankers and other large ocean-going vessels have to be able to navigate our port and river, the Piscataqua River, which has the 3rd fastest current in the world, and leads right out to the Atlantic Ocean

Right on the banks of this great river that divides New Hampshire and Maine in this area is a beautiful park that was given to the City of Portsmouth many years ago, Prescott Park.  It was given to the city by the Prescott sisters, Josie and Mary Prescott, and is so named after them.

Prescott Park
The park was to be established and maintained as a public park that was to be open and accessible to all.  This was, back then, a run-down section of Portsmouth, and has since become an incredibly beautiful park.  Many weddings have been held here over time, as well as family gatherings, picnics, etc.  The park encompasses 10 acres in the downtown area, and is simply a wonderful and relaxing place for all to enjoy.

During the summer months, Prescott Park Arts Festival brings in numerous musicians, artists, festivals, plays and more, and has been doing this now for 37 years.  The summer events are multi-cultural, and there's something for everyone to enjoy all summer long.

There are Sunday Brunch Concerts, Saturday Children's Series, music festivals, and all kinds of special events.  They also bring in one main play for each season, and this season, it was the play, "Oliver". Oliver The main play of each season runs all summer long, so there's plenty of time to catch it!

Some of the special events in Prescott Park every year are the Chili Cookoff and
Chowder Festival.  Both events draw HUGE crowds and make for a really fun family day!

If you're ever in Portsmouth New Hampshire, make sure to check out the schedule at Prescott Park and come by to enjoy the festivities going on in this beautiful park!  You're sure to enjoy whatever is going on!

Portsmouth is a fabulous place to visit and it's a WONDERFUL place to live and call HOME!!
