Why Do Residents Choose The Maine Seacoast?

Activities & Sightseeing

Maine's seacoast offers plenty of fun things to do year-round. Hike to the top of Mount Agamenticus (fondly known as "Big A") in York, where you can see Boston to the south and the White Mountain range to the north. Go for a bite to eat or a fun shopping excursion in Downtown Kittery, where you'll also find plenty of beautiful architecture. Of course, you can't forget to photograph Maine's lighthouses, like the Nubble Light in York.

Towns & Communities

Ranging from small fishing villages to established port cities, Maine's seacoast communities offer their own distinct lifestyles. York is a popular summer resort destination because of its 18-hole golf courses and sandy beaches, while Kittery has the amenities of a big city and easy access to Portsmouth, NH.

Its Local History

Kittery calls itself the "oldest incorporated town in Maine" and can trace its history back centuries. A tour through this area is always a great idea. Be sure to stop by local landmarks like the Kittery Public Library (nicknamed "Rice Public Library" after a well-known local family), Frisbee's Market, and, of course, Downtown Kittery.
