Settled in 1639, North Hampton was originally part of Hampton NH, becoming its own township in 1719. When North Hampton was first settled, the population was 657, and today there are around 5,000 residents.

North Hampton is all about golf! It’s home to the public 18-hole par 71 Hampton Golf Course, and there are lots of other courses within 5 minutes. In Rye, you can enjoy the private Abenaqui Country Club or Wentworth-by-the-Sea. In Greenland, public courses include Breakfast Hill Golf club, Portsmouth Country Club, and Bramber Valley Golf. And nearby Portsmouth is home to Pease Golf Course.

There’s plenty of fun to be hand all around North Hampton. Partake in all-ages town-run events, like Winterfest or the Egg Scramble, or enjoy you, adult, or senior programs and sports. There are numerous parks throughout town, offering amenities like picnic areas and playgrounds, sports fields and courts, and pavilions. Fuller Gardens offers beautiful Japanese gardens and formal rose gardens. At Centennial Hall, you can take classes for music, art, dance, and even tai chi. And all around North Hampton are endless ways to enjoy the great outdoors—hiking, biking, fishing and hunting, even snowmobiling.
Homes in North Hampton vary from small summer cottages to beautiful huge antique homes and estates. Students in North Hampton attend North Hampton Elementary School for grades K–8, and then attend Winnacunnet High School in Hampton for grades 9–12. North Hampton Elementary is one of the few elementary schools in the area that offers kindergarten, which residents with young children just love.
North Hampton may feel like a secluded retreat, but it’s really just minutes from the shopping, dining, theatre, music, and endless entertainment of Portsmouth. Plus, it’s just 40 minutes to Boston and an hour from Portland, ME. Like to ski? Find a plethora of winter activities within an hour of North Hampton. You’ve got to love that location!
