NH - Rye

A Small Seacoast Town with a Big Reputation

Rye is a beautiful scenic small town located right on the coast of New Hampshire.  We have the smallest coastline in the country, and it’s just beautiful!  As New England is known for, we have some rocky coastal areas as well as some beautiful sandy stretches of beach, too.

Let Us Show You Around Town

Rye, New Hampshire has been a favorite summer vacation destination for centuries.  In fact, many of the cottages and houses that you see today are from Victorian times, when Rye was becoming a popular summer playground.  Today, however, Rye is a year-round home for residents of all ages, from school-age children to retirees.  We love this little Seacoast community, and we're sure that you will, too!

As longtime Portsmouth residents and local Realtors, we love showing our clients around our beautiful area. Call us, text us, or visit us and we'll be happy to introduce to the New Hampshire Seacoast.

Rye has excellent local schools

Students in Rye attend Rye Elementary School and Rye Junior High School, and then Portsmouth High School, as part of the School Administrative Unit #50.  Rye Elementary covers pre-school through 5th grade, and Rye Junior High covers 6th grade through 8th.  The Rye PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is very active, holding monthly meetings at the Rye Library during the school year.  They take an active role in the Rye Schools' slogan of "every child - one voice."

Life revolves around the waterfront

Our coastline offers some wonderful scenery and beautiful peaceful settings along the coastal route of 1-A which follows the ocean.  You'll find great fishing spots, as well as whale-watching trips and deep-sea fishing cruises in Rye Harbor.  Be sure to visit Jenness State Beach, too!

The scenery is stunning

The drive along Route 1-A, Ocean Boulevard, is so tranquil it just really soothes your soul.  There are some truly stunning homes along this drive, and many were built as summer homes in the Victorian times.  Today, many of them are now used as year-round residences.  Rye became the summer playground for the rich and famous during the early 1900s for many years.  Many of the local residents today can trace their roots many generations back to the early settlers of Rye.

Rye is close to everything

Rye is in a great location — right along the Atlantic Ocean, an hour's drive south into Boston and an hour north to Portland, Maine.  Manchester and Manchester Airport is about a 45 minute drive west, and loads of winter skiing can be found within less than a 2 hour drive from Rye.  Portsmouth is the next town over, just minutes away.
